This time I got a message that I couldn’t save the file which was different than the message I got in Excel. This time I opened a file and then pasted something into the file. I am finding other problems with the files saved on my computer. This problem occurred right after a big Windows 10 update that occurred a few nights ago when I turned off the computer. Version of Office will I find formats so different that I will have to start over again? If this problem forces me to upgrade to the latest That seemed to work fine so my problem seems to only be in Excel. I tried opening a file, making a small change, and then saving the file in Word. To this day I still prefer to use the Page Setup page in Excel because it is simpler. It took me a long time to figure out how to do the most routine functions because they were hidden away in different places. The format was so different IĬouldn’t find anything. I still remember upgrading from Office 2003 to Office 2007. When I upgraded to Windows 10 a few months ago Office 2007 still worked fine. Did something in the Windows 10 update cause this problem This is the first time I have tried to save an Excel spreadsheet since that time. Just a couple of days ago I got a big update to Windows 10. I tried another spreadsheet and the same thing happened. The copy of the file seemed to work alright but whenever I tried to make a change to the originalįile name I got the same error message and I could not make the save. Instead it created a copy of the file with a file name generated by some random number function. For some reason it took a very long time and then I got a message saying I had a file sharing problem and theįile could not be saved because it existed somewhere else. To reactivate your Office applications, reconnect to the Internet.Today I opened an Excel spreadsheet, made a small change, and then tried to save it. If you don’t connect to the Internet at least every 31 days, your applications will go into reduced functionality mode, which means that you can view or print your documents but cannot edit the documents or create new ones. You should also connect to the Internet regularly to keep your version of Office up to date and benefit from automatic upgrades. Internet access is also required to access documents stored on OneDrive, unless you install the OneDrive desktop app. For Microsoft 365 plans, internet access is also needed to manage your subscription account, for example to install Office on other PCs or to change billing options. However, Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest releases of Office suites and all Microsoft 365 subscription plans. You don’t need to be connected to the Internet to use Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, because the applications are fully installed on your computer.
